We really loved the location. It's a beautiful setting and it's RIGHT off the interstate. 5 min from Brown County, easy access to restaurant, grocery, winery. However, we were extremely disappointed to learn that the hot tub wasn't heating up appropriately. It felt like a warm bath instead of a hot tub. It was also super small (2 people). We did call the office about the hot tub. They gave us a suggestion: "back the temp down a bit". We did that, but it never got hot. There were other places we would have stayed if we were not going to get a hot tub. So, that was a disappointment. But, overall, we liked the place. Also, I know it's becoming more common, but I don't like having to buy toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and trashbags. Charge me another $10. I just don't think most people want to worry about basic products when doing an Air B&B.
The land was gorgeous. Loved the fire pit and the jacuzzi was clean and already turned on when we arrived. The cabin was very clean and well maintained for its age. Extremely close to downtown Brown County made for a good stay while we attended and participated in a wedding over the weekend.
Great place to unwind and relax!!
Very nice visit. Thank you!
Perfect location!
This was our fourth stay with Hills O' Brown Vacation Rentals. I can certainly say that our rental experience was as smooth and effortless as we could hope for - despite our unplanned attempts to complicate it. We had planned to take our dog so we paid extra for a pet friendly cabin. Our dog died between the time we made the rental agreement and actually rented After our first night we contacted the office and worked through a problem we had. It was our personal limitations, not the fault of the cabin. The staff at Hills O' Brown went over and above to ensure we were happy with our stay.
Other reviewers have talked about the towels and beds and such. I found nothing noteworthy. Everything that we needed was there, everything worked and was clean and as advertised. I'd like to talk about the grounds - why we went to Brown County.
First, know that a genuine log cabin from the turn of the century that has been made into a rentable log home is going to be quirky. Running electrical wiring is a challenge and there will be light switches in odd places. The bedrooms and bathrooms are an addition to the cabin so there will be step-up and down between some rooms. Doors are not a tight fit but the door locks work. Know that everything works, it's just different from the residence that you left to be in Brown County. On the downside, that staircase leading up to the bedrooms is very narrow and steep and for us, that was a potential problem. As I said, there are oddities.
Something that took some getting used to is the solitude. The cabin is atop a hill surrounded by very tall old-growth trees, mostly oak trees - and the accompanying acorns. The cabin has a metal roof. Down a long wooden walkway is a large gazebo with a wooden swing hanging on chains. And just off the deck by the front door is a tin-roof covered 2 person hot tub. We had this property during two days and a night of significant rain and it was amazing. Sleeping in the cabin under the tin roof is excellent. Sitting in the back sitting room (picture 9 of 14) is very comfortable surrounded by windows on 3 sides and the sound of the rain falling through the trees is so very relaxing. I sat on the swing for a bit in the gazebo where the sound of rain falling through the tall trees was actually loud - and again it's a wonderful sound. The hot tub is small - it is what it is. But on a mild rainy night under that tin roof it's a wonderful place to spend some alone time. The temperature of the tub is perfect for an extended soak. Everything about this retreat is made perfectly for relaxation. Slow down, accept the oddities and solitude, walk up the hill behind the gazebo, around the fire pit, around the cabin. TV is pretty worthless. Your cell phone will probably work outdoors only. You will hear the sound of traffic down the hill but the terrain and trees buffer the sound. If you want a house with all of the conveniences, then rent a house. This is a cabin. This is a good place.
Everything was great!!!!
Yes everything was great cabin was clean and exactly like the pictures the experience was wonderful and are considering a possible fall return. Thank you
Good Morning,
We very much enjoyed our stay at Atop Pine Hill Log cabin last weekend! The cabin itself had everything we needed for a normal weekend stay and the information provided was extremely helpful! I do appreciate the communications before a trip.
The only thing that might have been a nice addition to the cabin would be a weather radio - but we are adding one of those to our own packing list after last weekend! TV signal was out as well as no service on cell phones. The people who checked us in were kind enough to make sure we were aware that storms were coming that evening, and that the power could go out though, so we were not taken by surprise.
We also had noticed one maintenance issue as soon as we arrived - a broken window latch, which would have been a mess with the all the rain - and a maintenance person was sent over right away to assist. We appreciated that quick response!
We look forward to renting from you again whenever we plan another trip.
Thank you,
Nice quaint cabin with beautiful garden. Clean and both bathrooms had nice showers. The house is listed as air conditioned but it was downstairs only. convenient to Nashville and Columbus but nice and secluded.
