Big Buck Vacation Cabin
Tucked away on a pretty country lane sits the cabin called Big Buck…a place where the nature lover will find numerous outdoorsy things to do. A small pond just outside the front door is stocked with blue gill, bass, and catfish for the fisherman who brings along their favorite pole. Access to Lake Monroe, as well as Yellowwood State Forest are also close-by. Located halfway between Bloomington and Nashville, Big Buck is well situated for folks who want to attend sporting events at Indiana University, as well as hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking in Brown County State Park.
Big Buck cabin comfortably sleeps 4 people within its two bedrooms and the comfy lodge-pole pine queen beds, all decked out in cozy colorful quilts. There is one full bath.
The living room, dining area, and kitchen share a common space, which makes it nice when cooking and visiting with your companions. Here is where you’ll gather to socialize, watch TV, or cuddle up in front of the cute little woodstove with gas logs a-blazin’.
The cabin also provides DSL service, a DVD player and an Nintendo NEC Classic console . The whitetail deer theme is evident throughout the interior of the cabin…an appropriate look for nature enthusiasts.
This cabin has an outdoor hot tub and an outdoor charcoal grill.
A nice wide porch outfitted with rockers is an inviting spot to look out over the countryside, the pond, and the many blooming flowers and shrubs you’ll find throughout the property. If you’d like to tour some beautiful flower gardens, and the art gallery of early Brown County artist, the late T. C. Steele, you are just 1.5 miles from his former property. The T. C. Steele State Historic Site is so close to Big Buck cabin, you really should drive (or hike) over there and have a look around. T. C.’s wife, Selma, created beautiful wildflower gardens at “The House of The Singing Winds” which are lovingly maintained today by local volunteers; this property is a treasure not to be missed.

Our stay at Big Buck was great as usual. Quiet. Peaceful.
Great place close to the local state parks. Would have loved an earlier check in or a more convenient check in process but still a lovely home in a great location to enjoy all the local nature spots! Would definitely return!
Couldn’t have asked for a better get away for the weekend. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer! Felt like a home away from home. All the little notes left to make sure we knew how to work things was a great/helpful touch. Just far enough from town to escape crowds but close enough to enjoy the dining and shopping. Evenings in the hot tub with sounds of the wildlife is divine. There’s even a little kitty that will come for a visit now and then. Cant wait to book this slice of heaven again!
Everything you need, very relaxing and clean. We would stay again!
It was chilly but we enjoyed sitting out on the porch, sun hits it just right for a nice nap. Tried fishing but the only fish we saw were 3 big carp, I think they ate everything else :p. If bedding ever needs replacing a king bed would be awesome! It was a very nice cabin, Clean, quiet and peaceful 11/25/2020
Very clean & comfortable very relaxing 09/09/2020
I don't want to say how much we loved our stay here as we hope to stay here again soon and hope that it will be available but here goes! This was a mini-vacay for us during these still tricky times of the world to include travel but this cabin was close to home for us yet perfectly tucked away in nature to melt away day-to-day stresses! There were so many wildlife sightings and sounds around the cabin and pond to include "dueling" rooster crows which made my heart smile every time! Big Buck is so cozy and I can imagine how picturesque a stay here would be during the color changes of fall or a snowy winter stay! I hope to be able to report back on both someday! ❤️
Big Buck was an awesome getaway for our family! It was amazing to be able to walk out the front door and head right to the private fishing pond. The cabin was nice and clean, the setting was peaceful, and it was fun roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. We plan to visit again!
Wonderful space very clean nice pond only drawback very challenging to bring a boat and back it in the drive other than that wonderful place to stay love the rockers on the porch! Great place! Thank you! August 2020
Public review Reply This is a little gem of a place conveniently located between Bloomington and Nashville. Bring your fishing poles, my husband caught several fish. Best fishing time was between 5-7pm. We loved our stay here! Private note Great place! We loved our stay and will be back!
