Big Buck Vacation Cabin
Tucked away on a pretty country lane sits the cabin called Big Buck…a place where the nature lover will find numerous outdoorsy things to do. A small pond just outside the front door is stocked with blue gill, bass, and catfish for the fisherman who brings along their favorite pole. Access to Lake Monroe, as well as Yellowwood State Forest are also close-by. Located halfway between Bloomington and Nashville, Big Buck is well situated for folks who want to attend sporting events at Indiana University, as well as hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking in Brown County State Park.

Big Buck cabin comfortably sleeps 4 people within its two bedrooms and the comfy lodge-pole pine queen beds, all decked out in cozy colorful quilts. There is one full bath. One of the bedrooms has satellite TV and one has a smart TV with Roku only.

The living room with satellite TV, dining area, and kitchen share a common space, which makes it nice when cooking and visiting with your companions. Here is where you’ll gather to socialize, watch TV, or cuddle up in front of the cute little woodstove with gas logs a-blazin’.

The cabin also provides DSL service, a DVD player and an Nintendo NEC Classic console . The whitetail deer theme is evident throughout the interior of the cabin…an appropriate look for nature enthusiasts.

This cabin has an outdoor hot tub and an outdoor charcoal grill.

A nice wide porch outfitted with rockers is an inviting spot to look out over the countryside, the pond, and the many blooming flowers and shrubs you’ll find throughout the property. If you’d like to tour some beautiful flower gardens, and the art gallery of early Brown County artist, the late T. C. Steele, you are just 1.5 miles from his former property. The T. C. Steele State Historic Site is so close to Big Buck cabin, you really should drive (or hike) over there and have a look around. T. C.’s wife, Selma, created beautiful wildflower gardens at “The House of The Singing Winds” which are lovingly maintained today by local volunteers; this property is a treasure not to be missed.

All our cabins have a 3 night minimum for Major Holidays.

We had a nice stay here. The unit was clean, comfortable, and the hot tub was outstanding. Communication was really good too, as the host contacted us the day before our trip to go over everything on the phone.

Our stay at the Big Buck was awesome. The fishing was phenomenal. Though the cabin is small on the inside for my taste, it is pretty. I feel the price of the cabin could be lowered because of the size. Hubby and I had fun

I just wanted to say we loved our stay at Big Buck this past weekend, and I just wanted to pass along that the hot tub seemed very sudsy when we used the turbo jets? I wasn't sure if that was normal or not, and also the oven didn't seem to be working. The stove was fine, but we tried to bake cornbread and it didn't even get hot enough for me to need oven mitts to touch the pan. It might have been user error 🙂 but just in case it was something that needs looking into I wanted to let you know!

This cabin is conveniently located just minutes away from The Wilds event venue! That said, the check-in time and process is not convenient and guests should be ready to plan their day accordingly if visiting for a wedding. Because this is managed by a rental company, guests are not told if an early check in is event possible until noon the day-of checking in. Check in is also completed at the management company’s office in Nashville to get the keys. Overall, not super convenient with the technology and ease that most airbnbs offer nowadays. But, the space itself was great once we were in! It was very clean, the bedrooms were comfortable, and the space was plenty big enough for our group of 4. It’s a traditional cabin without many updates which made the nightly price feel a little high. But, again, the comfort and ease in being located so close to the wedding venue made it feel worth it.

My husband, daughter and I had a great time at this cabin. It was the perfect size for our family. I think two couples or a family with multiple kids might feel a little cramped if staying in the cabin for most of the time. However, there is a wonderful outdoor area that is HUGE. We loved the hot tub, access to yard games, the pond and fire pit. It is also very close to Nashville (15 mins) and Brown County State Park (15 minutes). Remember that there is well water, so bring gallons of water if you want non-well water. We also wished we had brought an anti-slip mat for the bath tub for our daughter as the tub was very slippery. Overall, we were very happy with our stay!

We had a Great stay over the IU Graduation weekend. The cabin was comfortable, well appointed with all we needed for a comfortable stay. The 15 minute ride to Bloomington made for a nice respite from the hustle & bustle and overcrowding this weekend in Bloomington. After graduation we headed to the quaint town of Nashville, a 20 min ride, and again avoided the crowds! Kate & Tim
