Scenic view of Brown County with a hot tub and foosball table. Close to Nashville.
Wake up in the morning in this historic log cabin to a view of misty hills and valleys. End your days with spectacular sunsets from large cabin windows and comfortable decks. From the newly remodeled kitchen and dining area, you can enjoy the Brown County vista. Only two miles north of downtown Nashville, on a beautiful ridge-top highway, the Overlook Cabin is easily accessible every month of the year.
Step through the front door and experience the charm of cherry-paneled living room walls, vaulted ceilings, a gas-log fireplace, and comfortable leather sofas. The adjoining kitchen feels almost like you’re outdoors with its huge windows that afford a view of the distant horizon. On this main level is where you’ll find the master bedroom with a California king bed and updated bath.
An oak staircase takes you up to a balcony that overlooks the living room and leads to a second bedroom. This bedroom features large westward facing windows from which you can enjoy the beautiful Brown County scenery and sunsets. On the lower level, you will find a cozy TV room, foosball game, another bath, and an adjoining sitting room with a Jotul gas fireplace and queen Murphy bed (available with prior scheduling and additional fee).
Four outside decks allow you to relax at all times of the day. There is an expansive deck with a pergola, a covered deck, a gathering spot with a high-top table, and a hot tub deck. All decks open onto a western view of Brown County hills and valleys.
Throughout the cabin, you will enjoy the atmosphere provided by vintage furnishings and restful colors. The owners have equipped and decorated the cabin to provide a relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable experience.
"Green hills roll to the horizon and a bluish mist floats in the shadowy valleys like a delicate veil," wrote Midwest Living's Barbara Morrow, who included this cabin in her June 1993 article "Summer Comes to Indiana's Hill Country."
The Overlook Cabin always requires a minimum 3 night stay.

We loved staying at The Overlook! Everything was absolutely perfect. The most enjoyable things were the bird feeders and all of the birds we spotted, and the beautiful view from the decks. We will definitely reserve again! Thank you so much! Christine and Joe.
Super cozy place and perfect location to Nashville. The birds and view are the highlights.
Property was very convenient to downtown Nashville! We loved the place and the rental was exactly as described.
Dear Hills O’ Brown staff: My wife and I spent 3 nights in The Overlook Cabin located about 2 miles north of Nashville last month. I have to admit after booking the reservation and reading some of the reviews I was a bit nervous. Having completed our stay I want to tell you how amazed I am now at some of the comments that are on your website. From our experience we found all of the negative comments to be absolutely FALSE! My guess is those that wrote negative comments would never be satisfied no matter what you did to accommodate them. I found your emails prior to our stay very helpful. There was no doubt as to what we needed to bring and what we did not. In fact to our surprise some of the items listed to bring were supplied after all. I had brought my own flashlights but the cabin came with three rechargeable lanterns. I also brought my own garbage bags those were supplied. We brought our own personal items and dish soap, but there was an assortment of shampoos, soaps, etc. in the cabin that we did not use but certainly could have for our entire stay. I also read a review complaining about your voluminous checkout instructions. The instructions were not too long, were quite reasonable and easy to follow, and beneficial for the next guest. My wife and I we greeted with a wonderfully equipped, clean, comfortable cabin. Some complained that their cabin was on a main highway. Ours was too, but it never impacted us in a negative way. In fact we found the cabin location very convenient and very relaxing. The view from the multiple back decks was spectacular. Having grown up in flat northwest Ohio the hills seemed like mountains and it was just a panorama of beauty. We saw nothing but trees with not a glimpse of any human activity. As the leaves were starting to turn it was simply glorious. We seemed to be in a remote part of the hills even though we were just two miles from town. The only things we saw and heard were nature sounds. It was extremely peaceful and relaxing. The bird feeders attracted many songbirds and even several woodpecker varieties. Many of them being just a few feet from us. Some complained about no bathroom on the second floor. My advice is get a different cabin. This cabin was so quaint and cozy. It was truly a sanctuary of nothing but God’s creative hand. The cabin had some nice touches like books that helped us to identify the various birds we saw, a map of the area so we could travel some of the backroads, and pamphlets advertising some of the local attractions. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed and more. The back of the house faces west so we could see glorious sunsets each day with absolutely nothing to interfere with the scene. It had internet and TV service that we never used because we spent most of our time enjoying the scenery. It had plenty of games to keep you occupied. It introduced us to a game called shut the box that is quite addictive. (My wife actually bought one online upon our return). This was the first time I ever stayed in one of your cabins and found the entire experience from start to finish wonderful. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and helpful. We plan to stay at this cabin again next year. My wife and I have rented many vacation homes over the years and this was one of the best rental experiences we have ever had.so thank you very much for the entire experience. Please don’t change a thing. I am sure there are many others who have stayed in your cabins that feel the same way we do. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give you 5 stars. Thanks to all of your staff that made this possible for us.
Our stay at the Overlook cabin was wonderful! The setting was gorgeous and the cabin and the decks were perfect. The cabin had everything we needed. We have rented now several times from Hills O’ Brown Vacation Rentals and the experience has always been a good one. The staff is great to work with. We changed our cabin this time after finding the location of the first rental to be less than ideal for us. The Overlook was suggested (as well as another rental) as one that would meet our needs, and it couldn’t have been better. The information emails are fine and I would rather have more information than not enough.
This was an awesome cabin. Beautiful scenery. Close to town. We really enjoyed our stay. Kitchen was awesome.
A beautiful cabin that is extremely clean with gorgeous views! Multiple decks with a lovely hot tub and the ability to feed and watch the birds makes this a cozy, comfortable paradise that feels remote but is close to town and the state park. There are updated bathrooms and kitchen and all the supplies you could need. You will not be disappointed if you book this cabin!
We had a wonderful time watching the birds each morning. The location was perfect for going into Nashville, visits to Brown County State Park, and even a trip to Bloomington.
We had such an amazing stay. First off, I was contacted soon after booking, by phone and email to go through cabin and check in information. Check in was contact less and easy. The cabin exceeded our expectations, it was so beautiful, with many small, cozy touches. The views were amazing. If there was one thing I didn't love, it was that the hot tub was on a lower deck, not as close to the cabin. In January, its not fabulous, but it was meticulously maintained and the view spectacular. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. We will be back.
A perfect spot for an escape from holiday madness! Wonderful cabin, very clean, organized, and plenty amenities. Views out back are spectacular! Bird watching, sunsets, relaxing mornings. Great hot tub. Loved it!
Great location! Huge cabin! Beautiful view!
Gorgeous views! Very close to downtown Nashville and very close to Brown County State Park! Perfect for what we needed! October 2020
The cabin with clean and just as expected! Communication with the owner was good. The views were amazing and the hot tab was the perfect ending to an already relaxing day. The game room was a great way to spend a day just chilling. Just a couple minutes from downtown Nashville which made the entire experience even better. Will definitely be back! 09/15/2020
We absolutely loved property, evenings under the stars and morning birdwatching. Two birthdays in one weekend fabulous area. Pristine home! Would love to see in the fall. 08/24/2020
Had a great time. Took my nephew to Extreme to zipline, visited downtown and visited the park. The house was beautiful inside and out. The view is spectacular. Liked it so much I booked it for Fall. 08/07/2020
We loved our stay even though the weather was beyond hot! Cabin is always in perfect condition (this was our third stay) Cabin is well stocked with all things we need - we cook the entire stay and rarely eat out. Bedrooms are always perfect, but we are still disappointed that the murphy bed is an additional cost? We could really use another sleeping spot but at $300 per night, another $75 is way too much to spend additionally. We love your emails, prior to checking in! These are always very helpful.
Our stay was amazing (as usual). This is our 3rd time at the Overlook and we plan to come back at least every year if possible
Great western view to see sunsets. Had an enjoyable stay. I would rent the Overlook Cabin again. 06/04/2020
We had a great time! What a neat property. The owners clearly take pride in preparing and stocking their property to provide a fun and relaxing stay. We were very impressed. I imagine we will return in a year or two. We've always liked the park and had never thought about staying in a cabin in the past -- it was a great way to experience the place.
